FAQ

Q: What does Lithographic mean? Offset Lithography describes the process used in modern printing machines. The paper is fed through a series of rollers which serve to apply the print to the paper. The greatest benefit of the system is its ability to turn out many thousands of copies in a fairly short time at a proportionately low cost.
Q: Can you print colour with a Litho? Yes you can and all commercial printers use this process for large print runs e.g. in excess of 1000 images. NII are presently unable to offer this sort of service locally and coordinate any such requirement with our colleagues on the mainland. Nevertheless we are investigating the purchase of a multi head printer for financial year 2009/2010.
Q: Why not just use an ordinary laser printer? Laser printing is fine for small print amounts. Unfortunately they tend to exhibit problems and become prohibitively expensive if you are printing many thousands of pages. There are additional problems if you run laser printed pages through a machine twice or more as a function of the heating and transfer process.
Q: can you print anything at NII? The truthful answer is no. We are a small bespoke (Personalised) printing agency that can cater for most needs up to and including many thousands of commercial forms. but if we come across something we are not set up to do we will either arrange for one of our outsource suppliers to do the job or direct you to another agency who can.
Q: What are NCR forms? No Carbon Required (NCR) forms are used in a vast array of areas. One very well known example would be the old credit card slips. They usually come in 2, 3 or 4 parts of different colours, you write on the top copy and it transfers to the copies below without the hassle of finding a piece of carbon paper.
Q: How can I be sure the job will look right? Once details of your requirements are finalised we always send you proofs to check before we go ahead and do the job itself. Essentially you are sent the graphic image we will print from and when you are satisfied with the result you authorise printing to begin. In this way we ensure your printing is always exactly what you asked for.
